July 5th Kagera / Ujiji
Kagera / Ujiji
HOPE OF THE NATIONS
SUNDAY, JULY 5
Early morning the team was picked up by Moses and driven with the buddies to HOTN’s Ujiji property and future site of Hope Chapel Kagera / Ujiji church building, which is situated in a predominantly Muslim area. On this plot of land is the same location one of the two new fresh Water Wells that our SVCC VBS kid’s raised money for.
It was quite fun to see how many people we could fit into the jeep as we picked up each additional passenger on our way to Hope Chapel Kagera / Ujiji. We were able to comfortably fit 14 of us into the HOTN jeep.
While at Hope Chapel Kagera / Ujiji we enjoyed worship and Jack’s sermon on Philippians 4:1-9 while sitting under the shady Mango trees. The very small but friendly congregation and Pastor Bahati greeted all of us warmly. Pastor Bahati thanked SVCC for the Water Well and pointed out the condition of the water they currently drink, that is drawn from local ponds. We were told when the pump is installed it will be the only local fresh water well serving 100’s of people in Ujiji.
We met one young man, Johana (John), he is a recent convert to Christianity. His Muslim family excommunicated him and Johana now finds shelter in other Hope Chapel members’ homes. It is the desire of Pastor Bahati that Hope Chapel Kagera / Ujiji will one day have a shelter for other Christians in a similar situation.
After church, we briefly returned to the Bible College before going out to a restaurant for
lunch with Moses and the buddies.
Back at the Bible College and before dinner, the team walked down the road and shopped a bit, we stopped and enjoyed an ice cream before heading back to the college at sunset.
